Do like to spend time around the water? I love to swim, but this heat has even made that tough! When we go on vacation in a few weeks, we’ll be headed north to a place with a pool….and cooler temps – I can’t wait! This week, I’m inviting you to meet me at the virtual pool with a pool-themed book! What did you choose?
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 28: Swimming Pool

The Pool House
by Tasmina Perry
Posting on Monday, July 8th
If you like murder mysteries, this book is for you! Two years ago this week, I was in the Hamptons for business where portions of this book are set. I didn’t get to the beach or get to see any of the huge mansions, but it was interesting to read this book having seen some of the places mentioned!
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: Big Fish, Daniel Wallace (review here)
- General Fiction: The Guncle, Steven Rowley (review here)
- Romance: Wait For It, Marina Zapata
- Thriller: The Swimming Pool, Holly Lecraw
- Nonfiction: Why We Swim, Bonnie Tsui
- Kids: The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls, Julie Schumacher
Upcoming Book Release

There are some great new books on the horizon this summer!
US States Challenge – Week 28: Nevada
We Are Called to Rise
by Laura McBride
Posting on Thursday, July 11th
One of the reviews I read for this book before selecting it said that you will think about these characters long after you finish the book…and it was correct! There is no real primary character here, but a community that comes together after one horrible event to turn their individually broken lives into a beautiful network to support each other.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hunter S Thompson
- General Fiction: Better Luck Next Time, Julia Claiborne Johnson
- Romance: Leaving Las Vegas, John O’Brien
- Thriller: Desperation, Stephen King
- Nonfiction: Vegas and the Mob, Al W. Moe
- Kids: Pauite Princess, Deborah Kogan Ray
Rotating Posts – Week 28: Nonfiction
Being Henry: the Fonz…and beyond
by Henry Winkler
Posting on Saturday, July 13th
I heard Mr. Winkler speak a few months ago at the Atlanta Jewish Community Center during their book festival. I was less than impressed with his performance (it was really more performance than interview) and really thought I’d hate this book because of that. While there are pieces that irk me, and his writing style is ADHD meets your grandparents’ stories, he does have some funny and thought provoking stories!
