Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Logan has dreaded this day – his return to his hometown and the minor league team after an injury and a few bad news cycles. Sitting through introductions to the team coaches and front office staff, he is surprised to find out his new contract involves…. dancing?? Logan is also surprised to find his ex-best friend’s little sister sitting at the table and she’s all grown up. As the social media manager, she’s got the tough job of wrangling Logan’s media presence and capturing all those dance moves on video. Will their work rekindle an old crush neither has acknowledged, or will their years-long family feud do them in?
Emma St. Clair is back with another romcom series with Just Don’t Fall, the start of the new Sweater Weather series. Following a long list of sports-based romance novels release recently, St. Clair’s works bring her signature humor and chemistry while “keeping the bedroom door closed” as her website describes. This is a book about reigniting old crushes and learning to move beyond past hurts. With great dialogue between the teammates without slipping into the “bro code world”, this book merges passion and sports in a beautiful way.

I give Just Don’t Fall 5 out of 5 stars. I loved the behind-the-scenes look at the sports world and how the players are managed. I also enjoyed the easy banter between the various characters and the family drama throughout. I would not be surprised to find this story on the screen in the near future, but it is not your typical Hallmark movie. I do wish there was a little more unpredictability in the development of the romance, but this was such a cute story that had me laughing the entire time!
If you enjoyed Fan Girl Down or Same Time Next Year by Tessa Bailey, you are going to love this one! With romance and illusions to more, this book would be best directed to more mature readers over 16. This was a quick read for me and would be perfect for a weekend getaway read, or a girlfriend read along choice!
I was excited to see this available through NetGalley this month! Many of Emma St. Clair’s books are notorious among my literary groups and I was interested in reading my first choice from her works – I weas not disappointed! Just Don’t Fall released in December 2023 and is the start of both the Sweater Weather and Appies series, with more books already released in both groups since. If you’re looking for a good series to binge – this would be my first recommendation!
