You know what I love about the fall? The Fall Festivals! There’s some great ones coming up near me, and I always stop at the Friends of the Library or local bookstore booths to see what goodies I can find. We are still a week or two from our Fall Festival here, so I’m taking advantage of these new releases today!

Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop
by Jenny Colgan
This cute holiday book is actually a sequel to Colgan’s The Christmas Bookshop. When the store is taken over by a film crew making a holiday movie, the staff don’t know how to react at first. After the store receives their location fees, all sorts of new opportunities open up!
The Leftover Woman
by Jean Kwok
I don’t normally choose thrillers, but this one sounds really good! A Chinese woman flees her controlling husband all the way to NYC, but he’s hot on her trail. She’s looking for her daughter that was taken at birth. Another woman is living a great life of plenty and enjoying time with the little girl she just adopted. It’s a tale of motherhood and identity…but is most definitely a thriller!
Kids’ books releasing today
Ethan and the Strays
by John Sullivan & Hotem Aly
Ethan likes to help stray cats on his way to school every day. His parents won’t let him have a pet, so playing with these fury friends is a close second.
Okra Stew
by Natalie Daise
This cute book walks readers through making Okra Stew, a Gullah Geechee meal, with a father and son. From harvesting ingredients to cooking it together, this is a beautiful tale of heritage, tradition, and family! There’s even a recipe so you and your little reader can make your own Okra Stew!
