Thank you NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Everything isn’t exactly as it seems with Professor Grave. He’s been seen talking to himself and has been keeping strange friends. But the biggest secret is one he’s been running from for the past 20 years – the love of his life he made a deal with the devil to save from the beast, but who turned their back on him in the end. When his love and their family fall in danger again, will Grave risk it all to save them or will he have to make another deal to bring them to safety?
Debut author Cameron Sullivan is making quite a splash with The Red Winter with fantastic early reviews from other authors like Alix E. Harrow and T. Kingfisher. Perfect for fans of paranormal thrillers and monster mysteries, this novel features dual timelines but with the same set of characters across hundreds of years. With a feel of a dark fairytale retelling and with a morally gray main character, this book delivers the fantasy, the humor, the romance, and the spice that will keep readers entertained and glued to the book till the very end!

I give The Red Winter 5 out of 5 stars. I loved the dialogue throughout this novel – the level of snark and banter between the characters had me laughing throughout. There were a few scenes that were a bit too gory for my taste, but I loved the plot of this story! I also loved the demon sidekicks – each brings a different voice of reason and chaos to the story. There were several plot twists I did not see coming and I did not want to put this one down! I chose the audiobook version of this novel and really enjoyed the narrator.
If you love Van Helsing or Interview With a Vampire, or even the Wednesday show, you will love this book. Werewolves, demons, and hunters fill these pages and will keep you on your toes. This is also a great choice for readers who love fairytale retellings, especially the darker ones. With some graphic scenes both for violence and sex, I would recommend this to more mature readers over 16.
The Red Winter will release on February 24th. Preorder yours today on our Bookshop.org page!
