1st Quarter Book Events

The first few months of the year bring some of my very favorite book events! From one day events to multi-day extravaganzas, there are festivals for different genres and all across the country. The list below are just a few of my favorite events coming up – if you’re attending any of these as a speaker, exhibitor, or attendee, drop a comment – I’d love to meet up with you!

January

  • 23rd-24th – Sunshine State Book Festival – Gainesville, FL – story time for the kids, giveaways, speakers, and more! This festival features many local and regional authors, along with a great feature presentation on authors who found inspiration in Florida and a play on the life of Zora Neale Hurston.

    February

    • 5th-8th – The Savannah Book Festival – Savannah, GA – 3 days of fantastic speakers and book themed events in the heart of Georgia’s oldest city! This year, the festival headliners include Sean Dietrich (of Over Yonder), Brad Thor & Ward Larson (of Cold Zero), and Leigh Bardugo (of The Familiar), but there are so many other events!
    • 26th-March 1st – Left Coast Crime – San Francisco, CA – This annual festival migrates to a new West Coast city every year with a new theme. One of my favorite things? The awards and the Author Speed Dating!
    • 28th – The Amelia Island Book Festival – Fernandina Beach, FL – This is the 25th Anniversary of the festival and the organizers have a great line up of speakers! This is by far one of my favorite festivals, but I may not be able to attend this year. One of the reasons I love it? The indie authors who fill the gymnasium with their tables of books and accessories. I love getting to connect with them one-on-one and hear the passion they have for their books!

    March

    • 7th – The Dahlonega Book Festival – Dahlonega, GA – Ever wanted to go to a book festival in a Hallmark Movie town? Plenty have filmed in Dahlonega, the gold rush capital of Georgia! This festival has grown quickly since I first attended a few years ago. This year’s speakers include Joshilyn Jackson and our friend Carolyn Newton Curry!
    • 28th – Books by the Bay – Pensacola, FL – One of the reasons I love this one is that it feels like a small town event but with big town speakers! If you’re going to this one and want to stay the night, make reservations early – the hotels near the event book fast!
