News and Updates
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around our house! We are in the full swing of some of our favorite Christmas traditions with our son – do you have any traditions for the holidays? Ours include reading certain books, baking cookies, and a routine of turning on the Christmas tree lights every night. If you haven’t started any traditions in your house, stay tuned this week for more details on these and a few others of our favorites!
This Week

After a tough topic like Pearl Harbor last week, I thought we could use something a little lighter to lift spirits for the season. This week, we’re reading a RomCom for the challenge, but I have a great thriller coming up in our new release!
Reading Challenge: RomCom

Abby Jimenez has created quite a following for her RomCom books and sealed her place as one of the great writers for this genre. I’ve had Yours Truly on my shelf for over a year and I’m so glad I got a chance to work it in to the challenge this week!
If you’re a fan of “The Pitt” or follow influencers like DrBeachGem, I think you’re going to love this book. I kept having flashbacks to scenes from “ER” while reading the first few chapters! This is a perfect blend of medical experiences and a bit of the enemies-to-lovers trope. Fake dating, a drive to fit in, and a character having a relatable challenge with social anxiety really drew me in, but I stayed for the family drama!
If you’re looking for other great books for this prompt, try one of these:
- Fake Skating, Lynn Painter
- Friends to Lovers, Sally Blakely
- The Dead Romantics, Ashley Poston
- On Location, Sarah Echavarre Smith
New This week

Two of our early reads are releasing this week. You can grab your copies in our Bookshop.org store!
- The Wild Card is a great female empowerment story you’ll love. Read the full review here.
- In High Places has been around for a few decades, but it still has so much relevance in today’s political climate. The audiobook is brand new this week. Read the full review here.
In Case You Missed It
Last Week’s Prompt

In 1941, traveling to Hawaii meant taking a ship from the US west coast out to the islands. Not a quick trip, and not something that set sail every day, this journey would have been something to look forward to – both the voyage and the stay. For Willamette University and San Jose State football players, that’s exactly how they felt. The teams were meant to play against the University of Hawaii over the course of a few weeks, but history had other plans. No one could have predicted the scene that unfolded around them, or the lifelong events December 7, 1941 would set off for each of them.
I give Scrimmage for War by Bill McWilliams 4.45 out of 5 stars. This book takes readers on a “normal” journey with the teams to get to Hawaii, showing how natural life was before chaos ensued, but then walks alongside the players as they worked with the military, island law enforcement, and citizens to respond to the attack and prepare for what might be coming. McWilliams then follows the men through their later military careers and life, showing how these events impacted their view of the world and set off a life of service. If you enjoy books like Tom Brokaw’s The Greatest Generation or Stephen Ambrose’s Band of Brothers, you will love this look at the day that will live in infamy.

December’s color prompt is RED! This week, we shared some great reads and our new reading playlist for the month. Our reads include several books we’ve read in the past as well as some additional suggestions for this prompt. If you haven’t participated in our monthly reading challenge, this is a great one to start with – it’s our final color prompt and there really are so many great books for this one!
As we move into 2026, we are stepping away from colors and moving to genres for our monthly prompts. Don’t forget to grab the new 2026 Read With Lindsey Reading Challenge details before the end of the year!
Last Week’s Preview

Carla’s always been lucky at the poker table. Her mentor always told her to stop when she was ahead – something she always listened to…until tonight. Now she’s leaving with not a penny to her name, literally. She knew better than to keep playing, but greed and ego got in her way. Now all she’s got left in the world are her SUV…and the deed to a diner in the middle of nowhere Texas. She has no way of knowing that’s all she needs, or the wonders ahead of her at the Tumbleweed.
I give The Wild Card by Carolyn Brown 4 out of 5 stars. I have always loved Brown’s works and this was a fantastic read. Grab yours this week as it releases on Tuesday and take a trip to The Tumbleweed with me!
