November Recap & December Prompts

I hope you’re enjoying the Thanksgiving weekend as much as we are – we have explored bookstores in our vacation town and spent lots of time reading on the cabin porch the past few days. As we get ready to head into December, I’m thinking back on all our great reads this month and looking forward to what we have in store!

November Review

In October, I reviewed 11 books – 6 audiobooks and 5 physical copies. Let’s take a look back the reviews of those books – click below to visit the reviews:

5 Stars

4 Stars

  • Hearts in Circulation, Sarah Monzon
  • The Honk and Holler Opening Soon, Billie Letts
  • In High Places, Arthur Hailey
  • Keep Tuscany, Kelly Kay
  • The Soul of the Indian, Charles Alexander Eastman
  • Stuffed, Jessica Gadziala
  • Tame Your Thoughts, Max Lucado
  • The Training Ground, Martin Dugard

3 Stars

This might be the first month with only one 5-star book since we started tracking them! While that makes selecting our top book for November very easy, I was very surprised that more of our books didn’t hit 5-stars this month. I will say that Amy Pease’s Wildwood really did blow me away, so much so that I quickly ordered book #1 in the series when I finished it! Pease delivers a ripped-from-the-headlines type story focused on the pain clinic and pill mill industries. I couldn’t get enough of these characters and did not want to say goodbye!

December Reading Plan

As we bring 2025 to a close, we are celebrating our final monthly color prompt with the color red! December has always meant Christmas to me and red has always been its signature color in our house. Growing up, our tree was always red and blue themed – do you have a signature color for the holidays at your house?

This month, we’re also honoring Pearl Harbor Day on the 7th with our first weekly prompt. It has been 84 years since the bombing of the base, but I am still learning new things every time I read about this event! We are also celebrating some of my favorite prompts this year with RomComs, Holiday books, and Family Drama (to make you appreciate your own family a little more). What are you reading this month?

A few sponsored books I’m reading this month:

  • The Wild Card, Carolyn Brown
  • The Storm, Rachel Hawkins
  • The Escapes of David George, Gregory O’Malley
  • Cold Zero, Brad Thor

I can’t wait to read these great books with you – keep an eye out for the weekly previews on Sundays for what I’m reviewing each week!
