My friends all over the country are back in school mode after Labor Day finally! I think our state is one of the first to go back. When I was in high school, these first few weeks of school were usually spent going over the summer reading and assignments for the advanced classes. Did you have any summer reading? We read some great classics and more modern literature – everything from our book for this week to Rebecca and A Farewell to Arms. This week we are also reading a great Emily Henry novel from my TBR stack and the latest Jack Ryan Jr novel that came out this month!
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 37: A book you read in school
The Odyssey
by Homer
Posting on Tuesday, September 9th
Ok, I have to be honest – not my favorite book. I thought maybe I would enjoy it more as an adult, but, not really. This was a tough read for me just like it was over 2 decades ago, but I made it and it reminded me of some of the mythology and art I studied back in 10th grade literature.
Here’s some other great options for this prompt:
- Bestseller: The Scarlett Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne
- General Fiction: Animal Farm, George Orwell
- Romance: The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Thriller: Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier
- Nonfiction: The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank

You know I’m also a sucker for a Ryanverse novel and this new Jack Jr. novel is fantastic! I am a little torn about the ending, but I won’t give that away – just know that this is not a novel to miss if you’ve been reading the series, too!
