This Week: August 10th

Happy Sunday, friends! Our house is dealing with all the expected first week of school things and preparing for the second week – homework, charging computers, washing uniforms, signing forms….and playing the “is it allergies, or did you catch something at school” game. Last week really ran us all down as we got used to our new schedules and routines, but we are ready for round 2! I’m also excited about the books we are reading this week to help give us a mental break from the stress – a retelling of one of my favorite fairytales, a cute romance, and a dark thriller that had me on the edge of my seat till the last page! What are you reading this week?

Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 33: A Fairytale Retelling

Coral

by Sara Ella

Posting on Tuesday, August 12th

There were two fairytales I loved as a kid – The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast (what girl doesn’t want that library!). This retelling of the first is less fairytale and more coming of age novel about mental health challenges and coping with loss. I was looking for something light, but this was pretty dark – a lot like the original fairytales actually were.

Since almost all fairytale retellings fall into the romance genre, I’m listing out a few of my favorites below:

  • All the Ever Afters – Danielle Teller
  • Cloaked in Beauty – Karen Whitemeyer
  • The Deathly Grimm – Kathryn Purdie
  • House of Hollow – Krystal Sutherland

A Lodge Affair

I purchased a signed copy of this debut novel a while back and have been waiting for the right time to read it. I have loved watching the author’s career bloom online and can’t wait to share this book with you!
