I am offline this weekend to celebrate my birthday, but I’m still having a lot of literary-focused fun! Between reading good books and trips to some of my favorite independent booksellers, I’m celebrating with my favorite people this weekend and getting ready to share good books with you this week. A birthday party turned hostage situation and a look at how unaddressed pain can impact your life years after the fact will bookend the week, but we will also be looking back at all the fantastic books we’ve read this month and choosing our favorite!
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 31: By a Favorite Author
Bel Canton
by Ann Patchett
Posting on Tuesday, July 29th
I adore Ann Patchett’s works and this book is no different! A birthday party for a visiting businessman turns into a hostage situation and unlikely heroes develop. Patchett has a way of building a scene that makes the reader feel like they are part of the characters’ world, too – you’ll love this!
Since this prompt will be different for each reader, I’m going to list out some of my other favorite authors instead of book choices this week:
- Terah Shelton Harris
- Marc Cameron
- William Kent Krueger
- Heather Webber
- Dolen Perkins Valdez
- Tom Clancy
- Karin Slaughter
- John Sandford
- Lee Child
