Third Quarter Book Festivals

Moving into the second half of the year, I am realizing I haven’t made it to nearly as many book festivals as I had wanted in 2025! I’m putting together a list of upcoming events for this quarter to help plan my event calendar. If I’m missing a good one near you, let me know! All of these events are in September – there are a handful of events in July and August, but none with names that drew me in. These also give you plenty of time to coordinate travel for a quick getaway weekend!

September

September 6 – Library of Congress National Book Festival – Washington, D.C.: This one has some BIG names every year and 2025 is no exception. Geena Davis, Ron Chernow, R.L. Stine, and more. There are family friendly events throughout the event as well. But my favorite part is that if you cannot attend in person, you can watch the main stage events on livestream!

September 20 – Kansas Book Festival – I have never been to Kansas and this might be a good reason to go. So many novelists, journalists, and industry professionals in one place! Plus the performances and booths. This looks like a fantastic event!

September 25-28 – Bookmarks Festival of Books – Winston-Salem, NC: The keynote address for this year’s Bookmarks Festival is Rick Riordan!! I’m doing my best to rearrange things to attend this one. This Percy Jackson fan would LOVE to meet Riordan in person!

September 26-28 – South Dakota Festival of Books – Spearfish, SD: I wish I could be in 3 places at once. My prior commitment this weekend, the Bookmarks Festival, and this one. There are big names on the roster here – William Kent Kruger, Peter Cozzens, and Tommy Orange to name a few!

Are you headed to any of these festivals? Are there others you think are worth the listing here? Drop me a note in the comments!
