Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Forget-Me-Not, Alabama, is a magical town. Most people born here never leave and most people who come here end up staying. For Tallulah, it was an easy choice to move back home with her girls after her divorce. Returning has its perks – she got a good job working at the local library and lots of her grandparents’ friends to help raise her girls. But when two strangers show up in town in one day, she had no idea how much it would change her world.
Best-selling author Heather Webber is back with her latest magical small-town romance in The Forget-Me-Not Library. Known for weaving avian symbolism into her works alongside other magical realism, Webber draws readers in with realistic characters and keeps them enchanted with beautiful scenes that leap off the page. This is a book about being in the right place at the right time and seeing the beauty of what’s around you. This is a story about being brave enough to take the risk for what you want the most.

I give The Forget-Me-Not Library 5 out of 5 stars. I fell in love with the main characters in the first chapter for so many reasons. The little girl who loved to read in trees, who named those trees, and who cried when they were cut down – that reminds me so much of my oldest. After a few close calls with lightning myself, it was interesting reading about someone else with astraphobia and panic attacks connected to it. But my all-time favorite part of this book is the library cat who selects the perfect book for you to get the perfect lost memory through bibliosmia. I loved the way Webber worked in the reference to birds in this novel and how it helped the characters heal, and the general magic throughout this novel will pull at your heart.
If you have loved Webber’s other works like Midnight at the Blackbird Café or last year’s A Certain Kind of Starlight, you will love this book! I would also recommend this book if you enjoy works by authors such as Alice Hoffman or Ann Patchett, I think you would enjoy any of Heather Webber’s works. With references to death and medical emergencies, this story may hit a little close to home for some readers, but I do think this would be appropriate for most readers over 16.
Again, I was excited to see The Forget-Me-Not Library on Netgalley – I have been eagerly waiting on Webber’s next release since finishing her last! I adore the cover art for this novel – the beautiful forget me not flowers, the books and bike, the heart bringing a little bit of magic. Webber brings beautiful stories to life and this book is no different.
The Forget-Me-Not Library will release November 4th. You can pre-order your copy today on our Bookshop.org page!
