Happy June, friends! We are stepping into the unofficial start of summer and the beginning of Pride Month. We are honoring Pride Month with our reading prompt this week by reading books by LGBTQ+ authors. There are so many great authors to choose from for this prompt and so many good books! We are also sharing our June prompt and playlist, and reading a fun beach romance I think you’ll love!
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 23: With a Military Character
No Other World
by Rahul Mehta
Posting on Tuesday, June 3rd
This was Mehta’s debut novel and seems a bit autobiographical. An American born son of an Indian immigrant family is looking how to belong when he’s not quite right anywhere he goes – not quite Indian enough for his family overseas, not quite American enough for his school friends….and not quite straight enough for the neighbors around him.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt:
- Bestseller: Mad Honey, Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan
- General Fiction: If Beale Street Could Talk, James Baldwin
- Romance: Lady Chatterley’s Lover, DH Lawrence
- Thriller: The Little Death, Michael Nava
- Nonfiction: Hello, Cruel World, Kate Bornstein
