I thought May was going to be a calmer month for us. Sunny days and a week of vacation were in the plan, but 3 more tornado warnings during the past few weeks and some medical procedures left us with not as much time as we had planned. I still got a good bit of reading done and enjoyed some fantastic new releases. What did you read this month?
In May, I reviewed 13 books – 6 audiobooks and 7 physical copies. Let’s take a look back the reviews of those books – click below to visit the reviews:
5 Stars
- The Goode Girls of Maple Lane, Jacqueline Firkins
- Raving Fans, Ken Blanchard & Sheldon Bowles
- The Summer House, Lauren K. Denton
4 Stars
- Because of You, Jessica Scott
- Break In, Dick Francis
- The Civil War of 1812, Alan Taylor
- Forget Me Not, Stacy Willingham
- I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette McCurdy
- Out of the Depths, Edgar Harrell
- Rebel Talent, Francesca Gino
- The Violet Hour, Victoria Benton Frank
3 Stars
- Born in Death, JD Robb
1 Star
- Muse, Amanda Hanson
This month, we had tree 5-star books. I loved each of these books for different reasons, but there was a clear winner for top book of the month. The Goode Girls of Maple Lane gives readers the chance to meet an adorable rescue dog and a great community of friends through the “strangers to friends/lovers” trope. This was a quick read for me because I couldn’t put it down!
June Reading Plan
June is Pride month and, for the past few years, has been a very important month in our house. I’m excited to celebrate it with one of our prompts this month. We are also celebrating Juneteenth. I was asked why we didn’t have prompts for mothers or fathers this year – I recognize that those days can be difficult for some of our friends and don’t want to make it any tougher. We may bring those prompts back in future years but decided to forgo them this year.

A few sponsored books I’m reading this month:
- Love, Unscripted, Denise Hunter
- Apostle’s Cove, William Kent Krueger
- The Forget-Me-Not Library, Heather Webber
I can’t wait to read these great books with you – keep an eye out for the weekly previews on Sundays for what I’m reviewing each week!
