This Week: May 11th

I’m taking it easy today between the rain and the M-Day holiday here in the US. It’s been raining for the past few days and the farm is a bit soggy, so outdoor activities are limited. That means I’m spending plenty of time curled up with a good book, a cup of coffee, and a cozy blanket this weekend! We are also taking this next week off to have a family stay-cation and take our youngest to visit some of our favorite places around Atlanta, but will have plenty of time to read and visit bookstores, too! If you’re local, what are some of your favorite kid-friendly, bookish places to visit around the city?

Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 20: With a Law Enforcement Character

Born in Death

by J.D. Robb

Posting on Tuesday, May 13th

In honor of National Police Week, we are reading books with law enforcement characters this week. This is book 23 in the In Death series from Nora Roberts, writing under the moniker J.D. Robb. Futuristic and a bit overreaching, this was an interesting read for me. If you love Nora Roberts’ other books, you will probably love this series, too!

Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt:

The Civil War of 1812

Posting on Instagram Thursday, May 15th

This is a different take on the War of 1812. Continuing our journey to learn more about our presidents and their lives outside the office, this is my nonfiction pick for May.

Sponsored Read – Week 20

The Violet Hour

by Victoria Benton Frank

Posting on Saturday, May 17th

This is the sophomore release from this author and continues the story of Magnolia and Violet, two sisters looking to hold on to their family’s legacy on Sullivan’s Island while finding a way to make their own path, too. I liked this story much more than her debut and am hoping for another book to continue their tale!
