April Recap & May Prompts

Spring is in full bloom here on the farm and we are enjoying the calmer weather this past week. The high pollen counts and severe weather conditions from early in the month did give us plenty of time indoors to catch up on reading. With all the birthdays and holidays here the last 2 weeks though, it’s been easy to get distracted again though!

In April, I reviewed 10 books – 5 audiobooks and 5 physical copies. Let’s take a look back the reviews of those books – click below to visit the reviews:

5 Stars

  • Deep End, Ali Hazelwood
  • The God of the Woods, Liz Moore

4 Stars

3 Stars

This month, we had two 5-star books. Both of these great books surprised me by how quick they pulled me in! I did not want to put down either book at the end of the night and would have stayed up to keep reading if I didn’t have other commitments in the morning. While neither scored a perfect 5.0 rating, these are both fantastic books I’d recommend to anyone looking for a new read. Our top book for April delivered suspense, family drama, murder mystery, and more. It kept us second guessing till the end and left me wanting more from these characters. We’ve chosen The God of the Woods by Liz Moore as our top April Book!

    May Reading Plan

The past few years, we’ve focused on holidays like Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s day for prompts in May. I wanted to go with a bit of a different direction this year. We will be honoring the Kentucky Derby, Peace Officers Memorial Day, and Memorial Day with our selections. We are also honoring our military with both our prompts and our monthly theme. Yellow ribbons have long been associated with military homecomings, especially with the US Army.

A few sponsored books I’m reading this month:

    • Muse, Amanda Hanson
    • Forget Me Not, Stacy Willingham
    • The Violet Hour, Victoria Benton Frank

I can’t wait to read these great books with you – keep an eye out for the weekly previews on Sundays for what I’m reviewing each week!
