Dia dhuit, friends! Saint Patrick’s Day in America always makes me giggle – all the “kiss me I’m Irish” shirts and the people who claim Irish heritage for a day! Having actual Irish lineage, but no one to teach me about it, I sought out a lot of books about Ireland as an adult. Nonfiction and cookbooks to start with, but fiction as well. One of my favorites became Maeve Binchy, who I am also reading this week for our prompt “written the year you were born”. Beyond just life in Ireland, we are continuing our investigation into our American presidents as well as walking through an interesting look into the fragility of the human mind.
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 12: Written the year you were bortn
Light a Penny Candle
by Maeve Binchy
Posting on Tuesday, March 18th
I hate to say this one will be dating, but…but it will. I love Maeve Binchy and this book is serving a dual purpose – both written in the year I was born and partially set in Ireland, it’s a great choice for me this Saint Patrick’s Day week!
Since each of us may be born in a different week, I’m forgoing a list of recommendations this week. If you’re interesting in finding books published in your birth year, two good searches would be to try “<your birth year> books published Goodreads” or “<your birth year> books published Wikipiedia” for some great lists.
Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans

I have read about Jackson’s battles in the past, but New Orleans was not one of those. This was an interesting read with a lot of new details I hadn’t previously heard!

Party of Liars

I was approached by the publisher and author through Netgalley and asked to review this early release copy. Set against the backdrop of a sweet 16 birthday party, this thriller stars a haunted house and showcases exactly how fragile the human psyche can be.
