Top 10 Road Trip Reading Accessories

We are now past the point of return for ordering gifts online and having them reach your home before the holidays. Not going to lie – I panicked when I realized that earlier. Let’s talk about some last-minute gifts you can pick up on your way to your holiday event.

Gift Cards

While not a personal as I would prefer for gift giving, gift cards are a great option. You can get cards for many national brands like Amazon, Starbucks, or Barnes & Noble at every corner grocery or drug store. But don’t forget about your local bookstores and coffee shops, too! I am a big proponent for local small businesses and this is a great way to support them while also introducing new consumers to them. It can also take the guesswork out of the gift giving if you have someone on your list you’re not that familiar with like your child’s new paramour or that distant cousin who just happens to be in town.

Additionally, you can buy online gift cards that can be emailed or texted to your recipient. My favorite online source is Bookshop.org!

Accessories

If you have a chance to run by your local bookstore or coffee shop, some other great options that would be easy to pickup for some last-minute gifts:

  • Coffee & Tea – if you know their coffee or tea preference, pick up a bag! My favorites this time of year are the Starbucks Christmas Blend (make sure you know their preference for whole bean or ground….or just get the ground!) and Tazo’s Joy Tea
  • Tumblers and Mugs – regardless of what they prefer to drink, a beautiful tumber or mug is a great gift for every reader. I LOVE this beautiful tumbler from Starbucks as well as this mug from Barnes & Noble that is just gorgeous!
  • Calendars – I love those page-a-day desk calendars myself, but I have a friend who adores wall calendars. If you know their favorite type or a favorite topic, a calendar can be a cute gift that lasts all year. Some of my favorites this year include this Ansel Adams wall calendar from B&N and this 365 New Words a year desk calendar
  • Journals – most bookstores and even drug stores have some great journals on their shelves. If they love books, maybe this one with a beautiful bookfilled cover is perfect. And if you want something that gives The Secret Garden vibes, check out this beautifully embossed cover!

If you’re still stumped, revisit our list of items I recommend for any road trip – there are some great gift options you can pick up at most bookstores in the area.

Wishing you a Happy Holiday season full of joy and love!
