This Week: December 1st

Just a few more weeks to go till 2025 and we’re getting ready by reading books that will become movies in the new year! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend and are ready for the chaos that is the next 3 weeks before Christmas and Hannukah. This week will also take us to Wisconsin with our US States challenge and to Brittany with our sponsored read. Where are you traveling through your books this week?

Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 49: Books becoming movies in 2025

Wicked

by Gregory Maguire

Posting on Monday, December 2nd

The first thing that should be said about this book is….this is NOT a children’s book! An origin tale for the witches of Oz and a prequel to L. Frank Baum’s series, this book is dark and has a lot of scenes that should carry trigger warnings. This is a NSFW take on what could have created some of our favorite Wizard of Oz characters and the motivations behind their actions. And yes – I know part one is already on screens, but part two will not release for another 11 months.

Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:

I haven’t finished this one yet, but it’s good! Small-town Wisconsin friends who grow apart and together throughout their lives after high school. Very interesting read so far!

An Island of Suspects

by Jean-Luc Bannalec

Posting on Saturday, December 7

This book won’t release until February – but you’re going to love it! It is #10 in the Dupin series from Bannalec following a police commissioner as he investigates crimes. If you love Agatha Christie mysteries, you will love this one!
