November Recap & December Prompts

This month has been all about Thanksgiving both here on the blog and in my house. With the big day tomorrow, it’s a great time to look back at what we read this month. We’ve read some really great books…and one that flamed out. What was your favorite read this month?

In November, I reviewed 13 books – 7 audiobooks and 6 physical copies. Let’s take a look back the reviews of those books – click below to visit the reviews:

5 Stars

  • The Achilles Trap, Steve Coll
  • The Lost House, Melissa Larsen
  • Virgin River, Robyn Carr

4 Stars

3 Stars

  • Open Season, Archer Mayor
  • Storming Heaven, Denise Giar

DNF

  • Less, Andrew Sean Greer

This month’s top book was a complete surprise for me. I don’t normally read this genre and wouldn’t have chosen this book if the publisher hadn’t approached me, but I’m so glad they did! I loved The Lost House for the suspense and how it exposed me to other cultures and countries. It also made me love reading again after some tough reads. I can’t wait to read more by this author!

December Reading Plan

For the upcoming month, we are focused on the holidays – whatever holiday it is you celebrate. In our house, we are celebrating Christmas and Advent, but also Hannukah. When I reference “holidays” here, please know that while we celebrate Christmas, we are excited to see what you read for the holidays you celebrate, too! Please share with us!

This month, we are also reading books becoming movies in 2025 and short ones less than 200 pages. We are also reading one of my favorite genres – westerns! Later this month, I’m also releasing the full list of prompts for the 2025 reading challenge, so keep your eyes out!

This month’s prompts for the US States challenge are:

States:

  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming
  • Washington, District of Columbia
  • A US Territory

Other books I’m reading this month:

  • 49. Sponsored – An Island of Suspects
  • 50. Nonfiction – The Lost Founding Father
  • 51. Sponsored
  • 52. TBR

I can’t wait to read these great books with you – keep an eye out for the weekly previews on Sundays for what I’m reviewing each week!
