This week may be quiet on the holiday front, but we’re almost to Thanksgiving! I’m also preparing for the end of the year – wrapping up this year’s reading challenge and preparing for the 2025 challenge, too! By the way – this week, we see our first unfinished book of 2024. I’m a little disappointed, but, we made it this far without having it come up.
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

This was my first DNF for 2024 and only the 2nd in the past 12 months. I had high hopes for this since it won a Pulitzer Prize, but I couldn’t make it past the second chapter.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: Little Fires Everywhere, Celeste Ng
- General Fiction: Legally Blonde, Amanda Brown
- Romance: Lady Chatterley’s Lover, D.H. Lawrence
- Thriller: Left Behind, Tim LaHaye & Jerry B Jenkins
- Nonfiction: Long Walk to Freedom, Nelson Mandela
- Kids: Little House on the Prairie, Laura Ingalls Wilder

I love the series, so I wanted to try the book and I was not disappointed! So different from the series but yet so great! I walked away from this feeling like I did after reading Practical Magic for the first time – they are amazing in their own rights.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: Remarkably Bright Creatures, Shelby Van Pelt
- General Fiction: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet, Jamie Ford
- Romance: Firefly Lane, Kristin Hannah
- Thriller: Until Proven Guilty, J.A. Jance
- Nonfiction: The Stranger Beside Me, Ann Rule
- Kids: The Pig War, Emma Bland Smith

I have to be honest – I was drawn to the cover more than anything with this one. It looked just like some of the covers for the Ryanverse books. It is 3rd in a series I hadn’t previously heard of, but I’ll be going back to read those, too!
