This Week: November 3rd

This week, we are diving deep into November with our monthly theme and reading playlist to get us in the mood for Thanksgiving! We are also honoring Native American Heritage Month with books by Indigenous Authors – there are so many great options! But with November also comes prep for our 2025 Reading Challenge.

This planning period is also bringing about some other changes. I decided to back down on the number of reviews I post weekly in 2025 so that I can focus more on enjoying the books I’m reading, but also so I can devote some time to a new project – trying my hand at writing my own novel! And since November is also National Novel Writers Month, I’m starting this week! To make room in my schedule, I will only be posting the summary review on Instagram for the States reading challenges beginning this week. You will still see the Read With Lindsey Reading Challenge posts on Monday, some rotating ad hoc posts on Wednesday, and our sponsored and other posts on Saturday.

Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 45: Indigenous Authors

The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee

by David Treuer

Posting on Monday, November 4th

This has been on my TBR stack for months. I appreciate the perspective Indigenous authors bring to the history told in books like this. Treuer covers events from the past 125 years you may have read about or remember from news reports, but without the whitewashing so prevalent in history books.

Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:

November Theme

Posting on Wednesday, November 6th

We will be diving into our monthly theme “Thanksgiving” and sharing our reading playlist!

US States Challenge – Week 45: Vermont

Open Season

by Archer Mayor

Posting on Thursday, November 7th

I’m still reading this one, but it’s an interesting book. Someone is hunting the members of a jury from a trial last year and the people who prosecuted the case. Will Gunther catch them before more lives are lost?

The Lost House

by Melissa Larsen

Posting on Saturday, November 9th

I was approached by the publisher to review this book and nearly declined – it’s a thriller and that’s not usually my cup of tea. I’m so thankful I didn’t! This reads like a Jack Ryan novel or the latest from Marc Cameron – a domestic thriller/murder mystery set in a small Icelandic town. This was a book I didn’t want to put down!
