I have always LOVED Halloween! The ability to pretend you are something other than yourself is so much fun for me. I also love the Celtic traditions for the Samhain season that correlates with Halloween and All Hallows Eve. I want to share some of my favorite spooky season reads and accessories to help you get in the spirit of the season!
Spooky Reads
Practical Magic series by Alice Hoffman
This first listing is a whole series of great reads! The Queen of spooky season reads will always be Alice Hoffman for me. The series has 4 great books that follow a family from today back to the time of the Salem witch hunts and beyond. I would recommend reading them in the order of Practical Magic, then hopping back in time to Magic Lessons and The Rules of Magic, then jump forward to The Book of Magic.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
You know I don’t watch movies before reading their books whenever possible, and that’s what brought this one into my life. What would the world be like if normal people lived amongst witches, vampires, and demons? Harkness weaves romance and history into this beautiful novel! Full review coming later this week!

Red Dragon by Thomas Harris
Meet Hanibal Lecter before The Silence of the Lambs! More thriller than a spooky read – this one is for the darker readers amongst us. It’s yet another “read before the movie” pick for me, too – I have never seen the movie or show and am holding out till I get to read this one!
Accessories
Spooky Tree Book Ends
You can find these beauties on Etsy (click the picture for the link). They are perfect to add a little spooky to your shelves!
For something a little less spooky, but still in season, check out these bat bookends, too!
Boho Spooky Throw
Is it getting cooler where you are? Pick up this beautiful boho seasonal throw to turn on the cozy while you read!
Another option I love is this reversable orange/tan pumpkin throw!

Boo Boxes
Looking for something to go over the top for the season for either you or your reading bestie? Try a boo box! Click the picture to take you to this listing with mug, candle and other goodies.
You can also try one of these (I love them all!)
