When I was a little girl, we used to take road trips 2-3 times a year to see family and so my dad could play in golf tournaments around the state. Some of my favorite memories are of playing road trip games and reading in the backseat on the way there and back. What are your favorite road trip games?
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 29: Road Trip
The Road Trip
by Beth O’Leary
Posting on Monday, July 15th
What better book to choose for this prompt, than one that has it in the name! This is a cute story about a group of friends traveling across Britan to a wedding. With a central story of a lovers-turned-enemies-turned-lovers trope and a bit of mystery thrown in, this is a perfect weekend read on a getaway.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: The Mostly True Story of Tanner & Louise, Colleen Oakley (full review here)
- General Fiction: The Getaway Girls, Dee MacDonald
- Romance: American Road Trip, Patrick Flores-Scott
- Thriller: Summer of ’99, J.L. Hyde
- Nonfiction: Confessions of a Middle-Aged Runaway, Heidi Eliason
- Kids: The Ultimate US Road Trip Atlas, National Geographic Kids

US States Challenge – Week 29: New Hampshire
Nineteen Minutes
by Jodi Picoult
Posting on Thursday, July 18th
I discovered this author last year when I read Mad Honey and have been waiting to read another work by her. Picoult is not afraid to write about the difficult topics, and this is no different – this story revolves around a school shooting and the effect on the community.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: Mad Honey, Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan (full review here)
- General Fiction: Our Town, Thornton Wilder
- Romance: Peyton Place, Grace Metalious
- Thriller: The President’s Daughter, James Patterson & Bill Clinton
- Nonfiction: Hidden History of New Hampshire, D. Quincy Whitney
- Kids: Old Home Day, Donald Hall
