It is officially summer…and it definitely feels like it around here! With a heat wave hitting most of the country, it’s a great time to find a spot inside to chill out with a good book and a cold drink. But if you’re heading out on vacation, we have books for you this week, too!
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

RWL Reading Challenge – Week 26: The Beach
My Magnolia Summer
by Victoria Benton Frank
Posting on Monday, June 24th
It’s been just a little over a year since I met this author at a local bookstore at the debut of this book! She is practically summer beach read royalty – her mother is the late Dorothea Benton Frank, known for books like the Lowcountry Tales series and Bulls Island, all set in Coastal South Carolina. This author sticks close to her roots with this debut novel, set in the same area and relying on her culinary education.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: A Week at the Shore, Barbara Delinsky
- General Fiction: The Brighter the Light, Mary Ellen Taylor (review here)
- Romance: Beach Read, Emily Henry
- Thriller: The Summer House, James Patterson
- Nonfiction: Pirate Hunters, Robert Kurson
- Kids: Duck and Goose go to the Beach, Tad Hills

US States Challenge – Week 26: Montana
The Home Place
by Carrie La Seur

Full transparency – I chose this book because of the cover. How stunning! This is a book all about the power of family and the environmental crisis happening in some of our country’s last undeveloped expanses. This is another debut novel.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: Lonesome Dove, Larry McMurtry (review here)
- General Fiction: A River Runs Through It, Norman MacLean
- Romance: Montana Sky, Nora Roberts
- Thriller: Paper Targets: Art Can Be Murder, Steve S. Saroff
- Nonfiction: Incident at Big Sky, Johnny France & Malcom McConell
- Kids: Alone in the Wilderness, Hap Gilliland
Rotating Posts – Week 26: TBR Stack

Holiday Country
by Inci Atrek
Posting on Saturday, June 29th
Our third book of the week is both another debut novel, and another great fit for the weekly theme “beach”! This book transports you to the Turkish coastline. Family drama, friendship, and a coming of age romance, this almost has the feel of the Mama Mia! movie, but more focused on the daughter’s individuality
