May Recap & June Prompts

We are fresh off the Memorial Day holiday which signals the unofficial start of the Summer season where I live. It also means May is coming to a close and we are nearly halfway through another year! May had us celebrating the moms in our lives and Asian and Pacific Islander authors, while June will have us celebrating dads and Pride Month! Are you celebrating any big milestones next month?

This month, I reviewed 13 books – 8 audiobooks and 5 physical copies. Let’s take a look back the reviews of those books – click below to visit the reviews:

I only had one real 5-star review for May – The Greatest Generation Speaks. This was a fantastic book that really transported me back to conversations with my grandfather about his time serving in World War II. What were your 5-star books for the month?

June Reading Plan

The June theme echos May – it’s all about dads!. We’ll be reading books about father/child relationships in honor of Fathers’ Day, but there’s much more this month. It’s also Pride Month, so we’ll be reading books by an LGBTQ+ author. Juneteenth is also coming up, and we’ll revisit the last slave ship to arrive on US ground. We round out the month with a celebration of all things summer!

This month’s prompts for the US States challenge are:

States:

  • Minnesota
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Montana

Other books I’m reading this month:

  • 23. Sponsored: The Cicada Spring
  • 24. Nonfiction: TBD
  • 25. Sponsored: A Season of Perfect Happiness
  • 26. TBR Stack: TBD

I can’t wait to read these great books with you – keep an eye out for the weekly previews on Sundays for what I’m reviewing each week!
