Last week took us on a tour of Ireland…and this week takes us to India! Holi falls on March 25th this year. The Hindu Festival of Colors is special to me – I first read about Holi 2 years ago in a romance novel and got hooked. This Spring festival lasts 5 days and celebrates the love between Radha and Krishna. There is music, feasts, and throwing powdered color on each other. It is bright, and loud, and so happy!
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

Eat Pray Love
by Elizabeth Gilbert

Yet another book I watched the movie adaptation of before reading the book! I have to say, I read the book hearing and seeing Julia Roberts throughout, but this was such a good book! While different from the movie in some key scenes, this book was so great I didn’t want to put it down!
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Best Seller: Life of Pi, Yann Martel
- General Fiction: Independence, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
- Romance: The Taste of Ginger, Mansi Shah
- Mystery/Thriller: The Calcutta Chromosome, Amitav Ghosh
- Nonfiction: Gandhi: An Autobiography, Mahondas Karamchand Gandhi
- Kids: Dev and Ollie: Colour Carnival, Shweta Aggarwal & Somnath Chatterjee

The Blight Way
by Patrick McManus
Posting on Thursday, March 14th
It took me a moment to see past the cheeky play on words – potato blight is a real threat to crops. The main character in this series is a sheriff in Blight County, Idaho. This is the first in a series of books starring the sheriff – if you like the Longmire series, I think you’ll love this one!
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: Cloud Cuckoo Land, Anthony Doerr
- General Fiction: No Hiding in Boise, Kim Hooper
- Romance: Truly Madly Yours, Rachel Gibson
- Thriller: Idaho, Emily Ruskovich
- Nonfiction: Idaho Falls, William McKewon
- Kids: The Skydiving Beavers, Susan Wood and Gijsbert Van Frankenhuyzen

Recipe for Second Chances
by Ali Rosen
Posting on Saturday, March 23rd
This cute romcom isn’t set in a small town (it’s in NYC), but it gives all the small town vibes by centering on a small group of friends over the course of a decade. Ali Rosen is an award nominated cookbook author and tv host who made her novel debut with this book. The end of the book even has recipes for the food mentioned on the pages!
