We are entering one of my favorite seasons – Saint Patrick’s Day! Ireland is my number 1 bucket list location. The music, the people, the food…it makes me so happy just thinking about it! We will be spending quite a bit of time talking about Ireland, Irish Literature, and all things Irish.
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:

This is another time I watched the movie well before reading the book. I loved the movie version, but the book was even better. The two versions are so different, but both so great!

US States Challenge – Week 11: Hawaii

Hawaii’s Story by Hawaii’s Queen
by Queen Lil’uokalani
Posting on Thursday, March 14th
This was a magnificent story about the statehood journey from the POV of the native Hawaiians. After reading whitewashed versions of the statehood decision, I was surprised to see the true story! We think about the struggles of Native American tribes under the American government, but it can be easy to ignore that the native Hawaiians experienced a similar oppression and decimation of their culture and traditions.
Here’s some other great books that would work for this prompt in popular genres:
- Bestseller: The Descendants, Kaui Hart Hemmings
- General Fiction: A Letter From Pearl Harbor, Anna Stuart
- Romance: Simmer Down, Sarah Echavarre Smith
- Thriller: Micro, Michael Crichton & Richard Preston
- Nonfiction: Dreams From My Father, Barak Obama
- Kids: Ohana Means Family, Ilima Loomis & Kenard Pak

Toxic Prey
by John Sandford
Posting on Saturday, March 16th
I read my first John Sandford novel a little over a year ago with his first Letty Davenport release. This marks the first time I’m reading any books with Lucas in them – and I want more! I love this series and recently bought a bag full of books from someone local to me to help get me started on collecting the full series!
