January Recap & February Prompts

We are 1 month into our Read With Lindsey 2024 Reading Challenge – how did you do with the prompts? I had so much fun seeing the books you’ve chosen for these prompts and can’t wait to see what you come up with for February!

This month, I reviewed 13 books – 8 audiobooks and 5 physical copies. Let’s take a look back the reviews of those books – click below to visit the reviews:

5 Stars

  • Long After We Are Gone, Terah Shelton Harris
  • Open Carry, Marc Cameron
  • The Watsons Go To Birmingham, Christopher Paul Curtis

4 Stars

  • Africatown, Nick Tabor
  • Cottonmouths, Kelly J Ford
  • Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
  • Love, Naturally, Sophie Sullivan
  • Same Time Next Year, Sophie Sullivan
  • Same Time, Next Year, Debbie Macomber
  • The Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan
  • Thomas Jefferson: A biography of spirit and flesh, Thomas S Kidd
  • When Women Were Dragons, Kelly Barnhill

3 Stars

Thinking back on my favorite reads of the month, only two received perfect 5-star reviews – Long After We Are Gone and Open Carry. I love both of these authors and their works for very different reasons. I’m a sucker for a good military or law enforcement thriller and that’s exactly what Marc Cameron delivers in Open Carry. Terah Shelton Harris is an author of color who isn’t afraid to tackle the hard topics. This upcoming release from her is amazing. I’ve now read it twice and can’t recommend it enough!

February Reading Plan

February’s theme is Romance! There’s so many ways to interpret that as we look at the weekly prompts:

This is another month of holidays driving these prompts – Mardi Gras, Valentines Day, Presidents’ Day, and Black History Month.

This month’s prompts for the US States challenge are:

States:

  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Florida

Other books I’m reading this month:

  • 6. Nonfiction – Strengthsfinder 2.0
  • 7. ARC – The Secret Order of the Scepter and Gavel
  • 8. TBR Stack – tbd
  • 9. ARC – tbd

I can’t wait to read these great books with you – keep an eye out for the weekly previews on Sundays for what I’m reviewing each week!
