The Santa Suit

Ivy Perkins is starting over in a small North Carolina town.  She’s bought an old farm house sight unseen, and finds herself in over her head with repairs and all the former owner’s belongings they left behind!  One of the last things she expected to find was an old Santa suit.  But it’s the letter in the pocket of the suit that changes everything and sends Ivy on a mission to solve a mystery…and fall in love!

Mary Kay Andrews’ The Santa Suit is a beautiful novella perfect for the holiday season!  The queen of the vacation read has found another niche in the holiday romance market – between this book and her latest Bright Lights, Big Christmas, Andrews has some great books to help you get in the holiday mood.  Full of small-town charm, this book is about showing kindness to new connections and how one chance connection can change the future.

I give The Santa Suit 4 out of 5 stars.  I really liked this book, but it’s full-on Hallmark Movie – small town, cute guy (probably wearing flannel), a bakery, and family drama.  This isn’t something I would necessarily go out of my way to recommend to friends, but it’s so cute!  I would love to see this made into a movie actually – I have images in my head of these characters and that house, but would love to see them on the small screen!  Also, I didn’t see the final twist coming either – so good!

This book is perfect for anyone looking for a quick read while on Christmas holiday.  With light romance and lots of Christmas charm, this book is great for all ages.  I would think this would make a good book club pick as well – there’s so much to discuss as Ivy makes connections in her new hometown and solves the mystery.

I chose The Santa Suit for the Friends & Fiction Book Club prompt “a holiday book written by a F&F guest”.  Ok – I know I’m stretching.  Technically, Andrews is a cofounder of the book club.  My first Andrews book was Bright Lights, Big Christmas, but I can’t wait to read more of her works!
