It’s the holiday gift giving season! This time of year can be so stressful for both the giver and the receiver – every time I get asked what I want, I cringe, but I can never figure out what to get those I love either! Let’s take some of the pressure off and talk about the best gifts for the season.
Gift Cards
Ok, this is what some people think of as an easy out when it comes to gift giving BUT it does make life easy and fit the bill for the hard to buy person on the list. And hey, I ask for gift cards when I can’t trust the giver to listen to my preferences – we all know this person (usually a parent…). Most local indie bookstores offer gift cards you can pick up in store, as do the big national retailers, but I would suggest supporting the indie stores when possible. And if you can’t stop in to the indie stores or if your recipiant lives far away, I would encourage you to shop for your cards at Bookshop.org which will support indie stores nationwide. Check out their gift card page here for more information.
Puzzles & Games
There is a wide world of literary themed puzzles and games out there that will keep your reader busy between books! Here’s a few of my favorites:

Books + cats = one amazing puzzle! This beautiful work has been on the market a few years, but is now available at Bookshop.org for $21.38 as of this writing. The beautiful colors and theme are sure to be a hit for your bibliophile!

Bibliophile Banned Books 500 piece puzzle
This puzzle features 65 of the most banned books in America! A portion of each purchase also goes to support PEN America which supports literary freedom in our country. Available on Amazon for $18.95

Bookmarks
Every reader needs a bookmark or 10,000….right?

I love magnetic bookmarks because they can’t fall out of your book, especially when you pack it for a trip! And how cute are these cats in sweaters?! This 6-pack is available at Bookshop.org for just $5.57 as of this writing.

These bookmarks are stars of the Bookstagram and Booktok world. With plenty of space to write in books on both sides of the bookmark, these will last you a while! And, each pack comes with 50 pieces for just $8.49 making them great stocking stuffers!

Flower Embroidered Corner Bookmark
For the artsy friend, try this bookmark option! Available in 26 letters and 4 styles each, these can be customized to the recipient. Made of cardboard and felt, and hand embroidered, these are made to last, but are only $5.99 each!

Elastic Bookmarks with Agate Slices
My son loves these bookmarks! Elastic bookmarks are another great option for travel – the bands stay put well and don’t get lost. Also, how pretty are these agate slices?! For a 2 pack of bookmarks, it’s just $10.99!
Notepads and Stationery

How cute is this notepad? Covered in cute books, this 400 page notepad features a ribbon marker. At just over 4.5×4.5 inches, this is a great size to throw into your bag to take notes about that book you’re reading! Available at Bookshop.org for $15.76.

This 10 pack of cards features classic leather-bound novels on the fronts of each card! Perfect for quick notes and thank yous, these are blank inside and come with envelopes as well. The 10 pack is available on Amazon for $11.98.
Books

Booked: a traveler’s guide to literary locations around the world
Not going to lie – this is on my wishlist! This book is full of real-life locations from literary classics like the courthouse in To Kill A Mockingbird or Central Park from The Catcher in the Rye. If your bibliophile likes to travel, this is a must gift! Available on Bookshop.org for $27.89
Booklights

I LOVE this book light! I bought this one about a year ago and, other than having to replace the batteries twice, this has never failed me! It has a sliding adjuster for the brightness and a clip to slide onto your book cover. Available in a variety of colors and flexible enough to fold into any bag, this is available from Books a Million for $19.99

This is the booklight I see most in my travels – so many people on planes have this one! The brightness is adjustable, and this light doesn’t require batteries – it’s USB-C rechargeable! Available on Amazon for $15.99
