Is your house ready for Halloween? After reading Magic Lessons last week, I’m getting in the mood, but there are some great books coming up to help, too!
Here’s the books I’m looking forward to discussing with you this week. Grab your copies of these books by clicking the images below:
The Rules of Magic
by Alice Hoffman
Posting on Monday, October 30th
Prompt: Halloween
This book is the bridge on the timeline between the origin of Maria Owens’ curse in Magic Lessons and the Owens women we love in Practical Magic. You’re going to love this one!
Month End Recap
Posting on Wednesday, November 1st
We’ll look back at the books read during October, and you can grab a copy of the November reading plan.
John Marshall
by Harlow Giles Unger
Posting on Thursday, November 2nd
Prompt: October Historical Biography
No joke – I was a little disappointed by this one. I was looking for something with details about the most well known Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, but this is really just a summary of events happening around his life. It would be great for someone just starting to look into this era, though!
Island of the Blue Dolphins
by Scott O’Dell
Posting on Saturday, November 4th
Prompt: YA Historical Fiction
Did you read this one in school like I did? I remember reading it in middle school and can’t wait to read it again! Based on a true story of a woman who lived alone on an island off the Southern California coast, it made me fall in love with historical fiction as a student!
