It’s new book day! I love making a trip to my local independent bookstore to pick up my copies of these great books, but I won’t have time today. I’m very thankful to be able to order them instead on Bookshop.org – they will be delivered in a couple of days and it saves me the stress of having to add one more stop to my ever-growing errands list!
You can order your copies by clicking the images below.
Astor
by Anderson Cooper and Katherine Howe
If you enjoyed Vanderbilt by this duo, you will love this one! The Astor family is quite famous, and infamous, in America. This book documents their success, influence, and tragedies starting with John Jacob Astor’s arrival in the 1700’s to more recent history.
Starter Villain
by John Scalzi
No joke – this book ended up in my cart solely because of the cover. I am a cat mom and this cover had me in stitches as soon as I saw it! This one feels like a Austin Powers meets Gru from “Despicable Me” comedy. It should be a lighter read and just what I need after some heavier books!
The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic
by Breanne Randall
The publisher is touting this one as Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls. Since those are two of my favorite things, I had to grab this one! It sounds like it has the family magic of the Owens women, but the family and small-town drama of Rory and Lorelei.
Kids’ Books releasing today
Farther Than the Moon
by Lindsay Lackey
Two brothers have shared everything in life for years. But when the older is accepted to an astronaut program, the younger brother is excluded because of his disability. The older brother is determined to share this adventure with his brother though and works to develop a new plan! This will be a great book to help your young reader think outside the box, but also help them to understand how a disability requires adjustments…. but doesn’t necessarily mean exclusion.
Flat Cat
by Tara Lazar & Pete Oswald
Yet another book that grabbed my attention because of the cover! If your young readers love Flat Stanley, I think they will like this one, too. By the way, if Pete Oswald’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the illustrator behind other great books like The Bad Seed and Return of the Underwear Dragon, which are both huge hits in our house!
Scariest. Book. Ever. Goosebumps House of Shivers #1
by R.L. Stine
One of my favorite parts of the Scholastic Book Faire as a kid were the Goosebumps books! The first book in this new Goosebumps series is releasing just in time for scary season! Full of classic Goosebumps terrors and a cute storyline about two kids trying to save their uncle, this is going to be an instant hit for late elementary and middle grades readers!
Have I missed your new release favorite coming out today? Tell me about it in the comments!
