This month has flown by! How many books did you read in August? I finished 13 this month – 7 audio and 6 print books. Let’s take a look back the reviews of those books – click below to visit the reviews:
5 Stars
- Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano
- Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (this is the 2nd book I’ve read by Ng to be rated top marks!)
- While You Were Out – Meg Kissinger
- You Matter – Matthew Emerzian (August is the first month I’ve had a self-improvement book listed in the top reads of the month!)
It is really hard to choose a favorite again this month. I loved all 4 of these books because of their honesty and openness in regard to mental health challenges. I did not set out to read a group with that topic, but it definitely became the month of mental health! My favorite nonfiction book of the month was While You Were Out – this honest family memoir really struck a chord with me. I can relate to the pain and guilt these family members had and the healing process they endure still. My favorite fiction book would be Little Fires Everywhere – going in without any real context, I was surprised at how Ng captured nearly every aspect of adoption, the desire to have a child, and the desire to resolve an unwanted pregnancy. These were great books!
