June Review

With the start of a new month, it’s time to review our reading for June! You’ll notice, this only has the review – no preview for July. As I mentioned in our post earlier this week, our reading plans and ARC reviews are available exclusively for our Patreon community starting with July. You can find out more on joining the community with this link to the July reading plan!

We are also half way through the year – how are you doing on your reading challenge for the year? I set a goal of 104 books (2 per week) for 2023 and am currently at 69 – 18 books ahead of schedule!

Let’s take a look back at what we read in June:

June Reads

For June, I finished 11 books – 5 audiobooks and 6 print. We still haven’t finished The Oz Collection and I wasn’t able to complete The Collected Regrets of Clover. Hoping to finish both in July, but the Oz books have been much longer than expected and Clover isn’t my cup of tea right now. I’m thinking of setting that one aside to return to later in the year.

The links below will take you to the reviews previously posted. Visit this list on the Bookshop page for links to purchase a copy of each yourself!

It is really hard to choose a favorite book this month! Each of our 5-star reads was loved for different reasons: At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities was spellbinding – I couldn’t put it down! Remarkably Bright Creatures was such a beautiful tale of the bonds that hold us together – a full review coming tomorrow! The Good Part is such a unique look at what would happen if a wish we all have made came true: to skip ahead past our difficulties to the good part of life. And Twelve Years a Slave was another unique view – this is a firsthand account of slavery from someone who was born free but forced into slavery in the American South. If I had to choose one to read again before the others, it would be At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities!

Do you have any good reads planned this month? Share them in the comments! I’m always looking for my next good book! Don’t forget – you can find out full reading plan for July, including a printable list at our Patreon community here!
