We are ONE week away from Father’s Day! Are you still looking for something to give the dads in your life? Whether they are just stepping into the role, or been at it a while, we’ve put together a list of great books that you should include in your gifts:
For the expecting dad
We’re Pregnant! The First Time Dad’s Pregnancy Handbook by Adrian Kulp – this great guidebook gives pointers and how-tos for the first-time dads…who might be a little lost on what all this means for him. If Dad is expecting his first child (especially if he’s the first in his friend group), this is a great addition to his gift bag!
The Baby Owner’s Manual by Louis Borgenicht MD and Joe Borgenicht – Don’t say the baby didn’t come with a manual! If Dad is an engineer or mechanic, this might be the right choice. Full of diagrams and how to advice for the basics, this will help dad through any situation (when mom isn’t around…)
For Dads of Older Kids
Your Baby’s First Word Will be Dada by Jimmy Fallon – SNL and Late Night alum Fallon delivers his siganture humor while tackling how to make sure baby’s first word will be dada (it won’t…)! This hilarious picture book is great for dads in the toddler stages.
Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan – another comedy superhero authors his memoir of facing life when you’re suddenly outnumbered by the kids. The Gaffigans have FIVE kids and Jim gets real about the struggles, and the joys, they bring.
A Lucky Man by Jamel Brinkley – this is a unique collection of 9 father/son stories. The men in these pages are piecing together their relationships. If you and Dad have grown apart, this might be a good book for you.
For the golfing dads (like mine!)
Best Seat in the House: 18 Golden Lessons from a Father to His Son by Jack Nicklaus II and Don Yaeger – this a great book for the golf enthusiast! Jack Nicklaus II recalls some of the life lessons he learned growing up with the Golden Bear for a father…including that family is more important than golf.
Final Rounds: A Father, A Son, The Golf Journey Of A Lifetime by James Dodson – when the author found out his father had only a few months to live, they decided to take a trip to some of the most famous courses one last time. If your dad has recently lost his father, this might be a good book to grab.
Golfing with Dad: The Game’s Greatest Players Reflect on Their Fathers and the Game They Love by David Barrett – Barrett pulls together some of the game’s greatest golfers to recount their favorite memories of their own fathers. With stories from JJ Henry, Stewart Cink, and Tom Watson, this is sure to be a hit!
Books of Dad Jokes (do these really need more details??)
Dad Jokes: Hall of Shame: Best Dad Jokes Gifts for Dad 1,000 of the Best Ever Worst Jokes by Andy Herald
101 So Bad, They’re Good Dad Jokes by Elias HIll
All New Dad Jokes: From the Instagram Sensation by @Dadsaysjokes
Happy Early Father’s Day to all the dads out there. For the dads who have been there from the first second, to the dads (like my husband) who stepped in when the man before couldn’t, to the guys who mentor and help shape the youth of their community – our world is better for you!
