Time for new books! Today sees the launch of a great biography, some interesting fictions, and great kids books. What are you picking up today?
King: A Life by Jonathan Eig – this is the first biography of MLK Jr. to be released in decades. Eig uses the recently declassified FBI files for this look at the man behind some of the most important moments in the Civil Rights movement. Eig also includes 8 pages of black and white photographs from King’s life.
Only the Dead by Jack Carr – are you looking for a political thriller to read over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend? Then this is for you! Boy Dad by Sean Williams and Jay Davis – From the team that brought us Girl Dad, this book is all about the dads of little boys! Just in time for Father’s Day, this would make a great gift for new dads and those who’ve been at it for a few years. It’s a great read-aloud with the kids to talk about all the ways Dad loves you. Shhhh – don’t let my husband know I’ve ordered this one for him!
Nancy Wins at Friendship by Olivia Jaimes – this collection of comics is great for new readers or those who struggle with reading pages of words without losing their focus. It’s also a great read aloud to prompt conversations about social interactions and friendships with our kids.
The Night Before Moving Day by Natasha Wing and Nathalie Beauvois – the end of the school year generally brings moving season for many families – especially the military families moving to new bases! This is a great book to help kids prep for moving and understand what’s going on – from yard sales, to tough goodbyes, this book tackles it all!
