New Release Tuesday – 5/9/23

Happy New Release Tuesday!! There are some great new reads hitting shelves today – too many to list! I’ve included just a handful of our favorites below!

Wild Dances by William Lee Adams – this is one of our highly anticipated releases for 2023! Written by Eurovision exepert and journalist William Adams, this story recounts his upbringing in suburban Atlanta and his journey to find himself in a family with high expectations. Adams and I grew up as school friends and I am so very excited for this release! You can read the full review I previously posted here.

Queen Charlotte by Julia Quinn & Shonda Rhimes – be honest…did you binge the limited series on Netflix this weekend like I did? The show was so great – I can’t wait to read the book and see if it’s just as good! If you’re not familiar, this story follows Bridgerton’s Queen Charlotte from her marriage to her attempts to coordinate a successor for her husband. It works through dual timelines focused both on Charlotte, but also builds a great backstory for several of our favorite characters.

The Joy of Politics by Amy Klobuchar – this humorous and genuine memoir by the former presidential candidate is tops on my list to pick up today! From walking through her presidential campaign, her tenure as a US Senator, and being under attack during the January 6th insurrection, Klobuchar has seen many of the country’s defining moments first-hand. She also discusses her health journey after being diagnosed with cancer and watching her family suffer gravely with COVID19.

The Little Flower Shop by Lori Foster – the florist in Cemetery, Indiana, is beloved by the town who all think she’s very special, but doesn’t seem to think so herself. She takes care of her aging family, manages her store, and doesn’t really have a social life. But when a local restaurant owner takes a shine to her, he works hard to get the florist to open up only to have the entire town start a social media campaign to find her a man. Part RomCom, part The Batchelorette, part Hallmark movie, this light and funny book would be a great vacation read!

Walking with Sam by Andrew McCarthy – this book follows author/actor Andrew McCarthy as he walks 500 miles across Spain with his son Sam. Sam is getting ready to launch into adulthood and this walk is meant to bring the father and son closer together as they discuss a variety of topics during thier journey. Given this is the season of graduations, this is timely release and would make a great book for the parents getting ready to have their own baby bird leave the nest!

Kids’ Books releasing today

One Cool Duck #1 by Mike Petrik – this is the first book in a new series I think you’ll love! This graphic three chapter book is great for younger readers and explores what it really means to be “cool”. This book is marketed as great for beginning readers who are just learning to read on their own. By the way – book #2 will be out at the end of the year in case your little readers love it and want more!

The Greatest Kid in the World by John David Anderson – how do you define what it means to be a great kid? This is the question Zeke is asking himself a lot these days. He got entered into a contest to find the World’s Greatest Kid – a complete surprise to him and his family! This story for middle grade readers will explore what it means to be good, helpful, and well behaved – great if you have a kid who struggles with self-esteem or have a child who struggles with just being good!

The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich by Deya Muniz – The title of this one caught my attention! It is a coming of age story in graphic novel form. The law in the Kingdom of Fromage is that no female can inherit, so when Lady Camembert’s father dies, she disguises herself as a man to gain her family fortune! A case of mistaken identity and a story of falling in love for all the right reasons, this story is sure to be a cute and funny tale!
