Easter Reads

Happy Easter Weekends to friends who are celebrating! As we get ready for celebration tomorrow, I want to share some great reads to get you in the mood. Whether you are looking for silly books about bunnies and egg hunts, or more serious reads about the life of Jesus, we’ve got you covered!

Killing Jesus by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard – I’m currently reading this book and expect to see a full review tomorrow. While this book dives into the history of the events in both Jesus’ life and the Roman government, it reads more like a novel than a textbook. I am really enjoying it!

The Women of Easter by Liz Curtis Higgs – telling the story of Easter through the eyes of the three Mary’s, this unique book puts the spotlight on little discussed characters in the narrative – the women.

The Cross and the Lynching Tree by James H Cone – I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, but it is high on my list! Cone explores the connection between two pieces of wood that have shaped the lives of African Americans, especially in the southern states – Jesus’ cross and the lynching trees that ended so many lives.

Kids’ Books for Easter

Pat The Bunny by Dorothy Kunhardt – while not a true Easter book, this would make a great addition to any First Easter basket! We included it in those baskets for our kids – with classic touch and feel exploration and simple words, it has always been a hit!

The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by Debose Heyward and Marjorie Flack – Country Bunny has a lot of children. How will she ever manage when she becomes the Easter Bunny, too?? This is the 75th anniversary edition of this classic!

The Berenstain Bears and The Easter Story by Jan and Mark Berenstain – This is another classic Easter book for our kids – it’s something we read every year! Who doesn’t love the Berenstains?

Happy Easter, Little Pookie by Sandra Boynton – this is a new classic for our kids. We love the Little Pookie series by Sandra Boynton! We have gifted all of these to our youngest on the holidays and he especially loves this one!

What are you reading this Easter Weekend? Tell me about it in the comments!
