New Release Tuesday – 2/7/23

Happy New Release Tuesday!! I’m excited to share today’s new releases with you – there’s some great new books from authors I love, and some debuts, too! This list isn’t as long as the past few weeks, but I hope you’ll find your newest read here!

Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes – this latest release by one of my favorite authors was one of my Book of the Month club picks for February! When two strangers quite literally walk in each other’s shoes due to a gym bag mixup, their worlds are turned upside down. Promised to bring Jojo’s signature humor and romance, I can’t wait to crack open this book!

Endpapers by Jennifer Savran Kelly – this LGBTQ+ friendly book is making waves in some of my book clubs. Written about a genderqueer book conservator, this is a story about what happens when you can’t be who you really are freely in the world. From work to relationships, this book explores gender identity and finding your genuine self.

Up With The Sun by Thomas Mallon – Dick Kallman was at the height of his career in the 1960’s – he starred on Broadway and TV and was mentored by Lucile Ball. But what really made him a household name…was his murder. Written from the point of view of Kallman’s pianist, this crime drama is sure to deliver some surprising stories!

Up and Down by Terry Fallis – How do you get a nation to get interested in the space program again? That’s David Stewart’s new project with his new job. Fallis is the award winning author of Best Laid Plans and delivers humor and wit in this newest book, too!

Dinner with the President by Alex Prud’homme – this book is more like a documentary. It tracks the foods eaten by the US Presidents from Washington to Obama, along with the hidden figures behind the food experience at the White House. The author also documents how food has played a central role in building relationships between political figures and the countries they represent. I’ve already pre-ordered by copy of this book to feed my presidential history infatuation.

Joan is Okay by Weike Wang – if you loved “New Amsterdam” on TV, I think you’ll like this book! Joan is an ICU doctor at a top hospital in NYC. She’s driven and successful. She’s also the daughter of Chinese immigrants who move back to their homeland once their kids have left the nest. When her dad dies and her mom comes back to NYC, it’s just the start of chaos in her life.

Hideout by Louisa Luna – the newest installment of the Alice Vega series is a thriller through and through! Vega writes amazing police interviews and procedurals. This book is promised to deliver drama and crime fiction against the backdrop of white supremacy and racial motivations.

The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post by Allison Pataki – This one wins best cover this week – the stunning, alluring image of a woman in a blue gown with white gloves caught my eye immediately! This historical fiction is based on the life of Post Cereal heiress, Marjorie Post. She lived big, loved bigger, and was a force to be reckoned with. I can’t wait to read this book solely for the strong female character that is Marjorie Post and all her grand adventures!

Kids’ Books releasing today

How to High Tea With A Hyena by Rachel Poliquin and Kathryn Durst – High Tea is a very calm and proper affair. Hyenas, on the other hand, are a rambunctious and rowdy crowd! This “how to” book uses lots of hyena facts to suggest ways you can have a property High Tea with even the rowdiest of guests.

Just The Right Cake by Christina Tosi and Emily Balsley – Phil loves to bake. When his parents divorce, he struggles to find what he loves again. But with a little help, Phil finds what’s missing. Complete with a cake recipe in the book you can make with your little reader, this book will be great for helping kids going through the same type of struggles as Phil.
